Salem Christian Center- Oradea, Romania
Salem Christian Center (Centrul Crestin Salem), in Oradea, Romania sits in the northwest corner of the country. Oradea is considered the gateway between the rest of Europe and Romania, and right in the midst of it all is Salem Christian Center, and the Ciuciui Family.
As head pastors, Theo and Zamfira Ciuciui have great vision and love for this local church. The couple considers the church their extended family, raising up new leaders and expanding their outreach to the community. As a family, Ted and Zamfira and their four children: Ted, Calin, Daniel and Ligia are each busy in ministry work, including adult and women’s ministry; youth ministry; music and running the technical side of services.
Ted and Zamfira moved to Portland, Oregon in the 1990’s, where Ted completed the Church Leadership Program at Portland Bible College. The family returned to Romania to be a light to the people of their country.
Salem Christian Center emphasizes their outreach focus, serving as a light in a nation where the church has been perceived as irrelevant. Their vision is to see the church full of the Spirit and alive, inviting and able to touch and transform the lives of individuals who come through the doors. And the people do come. “Every service is packed and new people are coming,” said Ted in a recent newsletter.
The church in Romania is not limited to minister just in the four walls of their building. Through music, drama and mime in the parks and neighborhoods, Salem Christian Center ministers the Gospel by going where the people are.
Training leaders, helping husbands and wives to foster good relationships, welcoming people of all race and religions, and having impact on the people of Romania are only a small part of the work God is doing at Salem Christian Center.
